I am lucky to be an invited community member of the NKU Philharmonic Orchestra, an amazing orchestra, headed by even more amazing Dr. Amy Gillingham, and consisting of some of the top NKU student musicians, as well as few community members. In a typical school year, when we aren’t forced to shelter due to a pandemic, we prepare and perform at least 3 concerts. Our program is very dynamic and can include classics such as Beethoven’s 9th symphony, as well as ultra-contemporary pieces, some of them never performed before for an audience. Here, I will be sharing some of the notable performances from our orchestra.
In October 2013 I picked up a violin for the first time. Northern Kentucky University has this great program for beginner adults who would like to learn to play a string instrument. Violin always appealed to me for some reason, so I joined. within about a year, I was able to move to an intermediate level class.
In the summer of 2016, I joined a 6-week long Community Orchestra session, directed by James Ledbetter, and culminating in a concert shared below.
